THE LOTTE REINIGER STORY
Against the dark, subversive and glittering background of 1920's Berlin, Lotte Reiniger changed the world of animation and filmmaking forever.
A full 11 years before Disney made Snow White she pioneered the multiplane shadow puppetry techniques still used today, and showed the world that animation could be its own medium, turning fairytales into feature length magic.

Inspired by her story, we are determined to bring it to life on stage.
Mixing theatre, dance, acrobatics and shadow puppetry (of course!).
Telling this story through devised movement ,
as only our unique AKIMBO style can,
we hope our show The Animator will entertain, educate and
inspire people of all ages!
